POSITION SUMMARY
Working as part of the Regulatory Compliance team the EMC and Wireless Specialist will have the following responsibilities: testing RIM's products for conformance to FCC, IC, R&TTE (Europe) and International Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) regulations,handling EMC projects at the RTS facility (which is an ISO 17025 quality accredited laboratory for testing RIM's wide array of BlackBerry smartphone products and accessories), assisting with the maintenance and calibration of EMC, SAR and Immunity test equipment,working directly with client's product managers on new and challenging projects as well as maintaining current knowledge, understanding, and interpreting regulatory standards and test procedures. Other duties will include: completing quality related documentation and mitigating EMC issues in Wireless technologies such as GSM/GPRS/EDGE, WCDMA (UMTS), CDMA2000/1xEVDO, Bluetooth, GPS and WiFi. The incumbent will also: write test reports and manage challenging testing and assessment. We require excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills that produce workable solutions.The job may require some physical demands such as occasionally lifting equipment and/or working late hours. Furthermore occasional future travel may be required. Also rotating shifts may be required in the labs.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronics or related fields
- Minimum 2-3 years experience in related position
- Must have working knowledge of applicable regulatory standards for EMC compliance including both emission and immunity and have ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures, and governmental regulations
- Proficiency with MS Office
- In-depth hands-on experience performing emissions and immunity testing to the applicable specifications
- In depth Hands-on experience with the EMC test equipment including Spectrum Analyzers, Receivers, Amplifiers, and Network Analyzers
- Ability to plan and manage multiple projects, priorities, work independently and in group under tight schedules
- Results oriented, excellent time management skills, self-motivated, team-oriented, attentive to detail, and be able to work well under pressure to meet schedule requirements
- Ability to present test data and results accurately and to respond to questions from regulatory agencies and the client
- Systematic approach in the preparation of product samples, accessories, test plans, test procedures and reports
- Must be able to manage the projects from the initial planning stage through to certification and continued compliance
- Strong knowledge of EMC standards for Wireless test specifications, both current and emerging requirements, including but not limited to: * FCC rules Parts 2,15,22,24,90 * Industry Canada regulations RSS 119,210,132,133,GEN * EN/IEC 61000-4-X * ETSI EN 301 489-x * CISPR 16,22,24,32,33
